You get your Valor Points from your Guardsmen and your Mercs. Your Mercs will only go up if you are gaining in Guardsmen´s level So, you need to gain in Guardsmen´s level in order to get stronger Mercs in order to get more Valor Ponts. So, when you do research DO NOT do Specialists I nor Engineer corp I nor Monsters I. Do only Guardsmen I until you get Guardsmen level V. Then you can go for Archeology, Monsters and Blacksmithing with the huge amount of Valor Points you high levelled units will be making by that time. Else, you`ll struggle due to your Valor Points deficit. You can do some Archeology along the way though, with no hurry, to be able to do Crypts II. (edited) DO NOT use your Conquest points on Specialists I. Spend them on Army Modernization instead. You will not get Conquest points by attacking other player´s cities but you will get enough from Shadow Invasion Tournament. The main things to research in Army Modernization (in priority order) are: Army Strength & health, Ranged Strength & health, Melee´s Strength & health, Rider´s Strength and Health. Do your construction and research to level up your Ranged, Melee and Mounted units faster, join Tournaments to level up your Captains to get VP and CP and you will level up fast in this way.
